OSTLY INFLUENTIAL
MOSTLY INFLUENTIAL was originally composed for the ensemble Proteus 7 for their CD "Bernstein Tribute".

The music tells the tale of young composer who has writers block and his journey into the depths of New Yorks infamous Hells Kitchen where he happens upon a bar with a mysterious back room with three unusual gentlemen sitting and engaged in a game of cards.

The young lad asks to join these characters who seem oddly dressed and misplaced in time. Through this match, the boy shares his story and explains his troubles as he struggles to find his next chord.

Throughout the evening, it starts to become apparent that these three men are more than just your average night dweller in the city that never sleeps. They end up being ghosts of , Serge Prokifiev , Dimitri Shostakovich and Leonard Bernstein. Nearly an entire night passes before the weary eyed mortal had been influenced throughout the card game with wondrous melodic motifs either murmured, hummed, whistled or sung, to try and distract his game at hand.
As night becomes day and he takes his first few steps into daylight, he realizes his newly found inspiration and is able to finish his work, even though his new found sound would be embellished with the many likes of his new found mates.
